Connie Frances Fumar ‘Rust Paintings’ to make Portraits Goes Viral

21-year-old artist from Leyte Connie Frances Fumar is amazing because she uses “Kalawang” (rust) to make portraits. Connie’s story is that he was still in elementary school when he fell in love with Art and he was inspired by his father.

Fumar has done several ‘rust paintings’ by well -known personalities in the country such as Senator Manny Pacquiao, Mayor Isko Moreno and even President Rodrigo Duterte.

Connie Frances Fumar was born in Alcantara, Romblon, Philippines the Marble Capital of the Philippines.

According to Fumar, “Currently living in Palo. Brgy. San Joaquin, Palo Leyte, Philippines. A 1st Yr. College of ACLC, taking a degree of Bachelor of Science in Information Technology. I started doing a masterpiece when I was elementary school year 2009. I’m inspired by my father’s house plan (Blueprint) he is not an artist, he is a Construction foreman based in Manila. Most of the time I do some basic sketches and mixing colors; but one day I try new mediums like acrylic, soft pastels, oil pastels, charcoal, leaf carving and other art mediums.”

He added, “Now i finally discovered what’s best medium for me which is the Rust painting (Kalawang in Filipino) and i have been using this for almost 3yrs and 2 months and I have portrayed different celebrities’ using this medium like Mayor Isko, Idol Raffy Tulfo and other was an international fashion designer like Sir John Guarnes then ir mayor in palo leyte Mayor Ann Petilla and lastly is Jesus Christ who gave me this kind of gift. That’s why i loved making masterpiece because for me every colors, every hue represent as “Hue”.”
