Viral now in social media is the appeal of a certain teacher named Reyjhon Soriano Modesto to public to donate unused smart phones intended for poor and unprivileged students.

Teacher Modesto is a senior high teacher in Manila.

In his statement he stated it is the right of every student to learn no matter what is his/her status in the society at is possible that you have unused smart phones in your possession kindly donate it to the poor students who is willing to learn.

The teacher stated it is so alarming on his part to see students renting smart phones to attend on online classes to continue learning.

He also calls the attention of the Department of Education to hire teachers with a heart not only working to prove they are the best on their field and to receive salary only.

“Para sa lahat, ang message natin, lalo sa Kagawaran ng Edukasyon, sa panahon ng pandemya, hindi lang kailangan ng mga teacher na magagaling kundi ‘yung mga teacher na may lalim ng pag-unawa at lalim ng pagmamahal sa mga estudyante,” ani Modesto. (Statement from ABS-CBN News)

Due to the pandemic Deped prohibits face to face classes and recommends conducting teaching by means of modular or online lecture.
