ABS-CBN has released a statement after their provisional permit to operate finally got approved.
Recalling, on May 5, 2020, the Kapamilya network was the most controversial topic on social media and in Philippine television as the network shut down due to its franchise expiration. The network also showed its compliance with the cease and desist order of the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC).
However, on May 13, Wednesday night, after eight days since the network shuts off, the network had happily announced that the House of Representatives Committee of the Whole approved House Bill No. 6732 granted the provisional permit for them to operate until October 2020.
According to House Bill No. 6732 or “An Act Granting the ABS-CBN Corporation A Franchise to Construct, Install, Operate and Maintain Radio and Television Broadcasting Stations in the Philippines, and For Other Purposes” this was filed by Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano and several other lawmakers.
Due to this good news, ABS-CBN expressed in a statement their gratitude to the leaders of the House of Representatives and sponsors of the bill led by Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano and Majority Leader Martin Romualdez.
The network thanked them for understanding and their recognition of their crucial role amid this public health crisis.
