Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto announces the distribution of P3,000 cash assistance to each tricycle, jeepney, and UV Express drivers. The distribution will start on Monday, March 30, 2020. There are 5,800 jeepney drivers, 12,000 tricycle drivers, and 700 UV Express van drivers, as a total of P55.5 million said by Mayor Vico Sotto social media account.
According to Mayor Vico Sotto social media account, “FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE FOR OUR PUBLIC TRANSPORT DRIVERS AFFECTED BY THE COMMUNITY QUARANTINE. P3,000 each x (5,800 jeepney drivers + 12,000 tricycle drivers + 700 UV drivers) = total of 55.5M. Distribution is by schedule, starting Monday.”
However, the Pasig Mayor tried to get the national government’s approval of his plan to allow tricycles to have trips within Pasig to service the front liners of Pasig health cares for those who do not have their own cars.
The national government did not accept the proposal of Vico Sotto because there will be other cities to follow his proposal. Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto other projects is the Mobile Palengke roving stores that allow public market vendors to continue selling and a distribution of some 400,000 food packs to Pasig’s poor communities.

Recently, DOH recorded 707 coronavirus cases, 45 deaths and has 28 recovered.
