“I am kept in the dark dito sa isyu na ‘to.”
This was the reaction of the “beauty-queen maker” and creative director of Miss Universe Organization in the Philippines, Jonas Gaffud, about the heated controversy between the newly crowned Miss Universe Philippines Gazini Ganados and Bb. Pilipinas- International Bea Patricia Magtanong.
Many people have been taking about this issue lately, saying that Bea truly won the Miss Universe Philippines 2019 crown. However, an insider protested that Bea is a green-card holder that is why they gave the beauty title to Gazini.
Reportedly, supporters of Bea are willing to send a letter to the Miss Universe Organization President, Paula Shugart, hoping to solve the said issue.
Many believe that Bea is a Miss-Universe material. Not only because of her Filipina beauty, but also because of her speaking and reasoning skills. Lastly, her career as a lawyer, which is an advantage to be a great competitor against Miss Universe USA Cheslie Kryst who’s also a lawyer.
“Puro hearsay lang at lagi kong sinasabi na kung walang proof, hearsay lang siya, so hindi ko alam kung saan nanggagaling ang isyu,” Jonas added.
Did Jonas witness the deliberation of Binibining Pilipinas judges in choosing the winners on June 9, 2019?
“Ay, wala ako doon. Hindi pa ako welcome doon,” he stated.
Is the candidate not allowed to represent the Philippines for the Miss Universe Competition, if she is a green-card holder?
“Hindi ako privy sa contract ng national director sa Miss Universe at hindi rin ako lawyer so hindi ko alam yung nakasulat,” he answered.
Was the case of Venus Raj in 2010 any different?
“Ay, iba yun,” Jonas stated in an interview with the members of the media in the official announcement. That is to be held in the Philippines this coming February 2020, the 20th edition of the Manhunt International.
