The former senator Juan Flavier passed away due to multiple organ failure, on Thursday, October 30, 2014. He is a former secretary of the Department of Health (DOH) during the administration of Ramos.

The 79 year-old senator became famous for the slogan he make “Let’s DOH it”. He is also an authored of the books “Doctor to the Barrios” volume 3, that describe his own experience as doctor in rural communities in Nueva Ecija and the city of Cavite.

During on his term as a health secretary, some Catholic Church criticized his campaign to promote contraceptives. Senator Juan Flavier was elected in 1995 and he served in upper chamber until 2007.
