San Mig Coffee Mixers defeat the Talk N’ Text in their do-or-die Game 5 in the PBA Governors’ Cup semifinals last Friday night June 27, 2014 held at the Smart Coliseum. The Mixers will be taken to the finals in advance waiting for the result between Rain or Shine and Alaska on Saturday June 28, 2014.

The total score of Game 5 semifinals between San Mig went on to oust the TNT “93-87”. San Mig Coffee players who contributed scores are; James Yap had 25 points with five triples, Marqus Blakely 21 points with 16 rebounds, also Mark Barroca the point guard had 17 in last quarter and Joe Devance a career points of 11 , 11 rebounds and 10 assist.

Coach Tim Cone of San Mig Coffee said that it was remarkable and the dream is still alive in the PBA Governors’ Cup Finals. Mixers was looking to sweep the three conference before Alaska did it last 18 years ago.

For the second half, Paul Harris wedged a 3-pointer and Danny Seigle scored which the Talk N’ Text takes the led 43-37. James Yap contributed 7 straight points consecutively that the Talk N’ Text out of control on second quarters. On third quarter, Talk N’ Text back the man-to-man defense and focus to zone defense but Pj Simon buried a long 3 to maintain the leads 60-50.

San Mig Coffee maintain the lead on 4^th quarter, “We got through an incredible team to do it. They handled us pretty well for two games, and frankly, I don’t know how we won it tonight. It wasn’t the most best played down-the-stretch game we’ve had and I’m a little disappointed, but you can’t argue the result.” According to Coach Tim Cone.

The Best of 5 championship series will be held at Mall of Asia Arena on Tuesday, July 1, 2014.
