Abu Sayyaf Released 10 Indonesian Hostages

Terrorist group Abu Sayyaf released 10 Indonesian hostages in Julu, Sulu confirmed by the Philippine National Police on Sunday May 1. They are crew members of Tugboat Brahma 12 and were abducted last March 26 while they were sailing from Jakarta to Batangas nearby Basilan islan which is accused of kidnappings and deadly bombiAn unidentified person on board of a yellow Tamaraw jeepney turned over the 10 abducted Indonesian nationals in front of the house of Sulu Governor Abdusakur M. Tan said by PNP Spokesman Chief Superintendent Wilben Mayor. The Governor said the hostages were dropped off around 10 to 11 in the morning in front of his house. The Indonesians appeared to be in good health when they were dropped off.  A photo seen by The Associated Press shows the sunburned men in fresh shirts eating rice and chicken with Sulu’s governor on a veranda beside a Japanese-style garden in his house.

Based on the report of Jakarta Post, a $1 million or about P50 million ransoms were initially asking by the Abu Sayyaf for the hostages was revealed by Indonesia’s National Intelligence Agency chief Sutiyoso. Tan said he has no information if ransom was paid for the release of the Indonesian nationals.

The Indonesian were sent to Camp Teodulfo Bautista Station Hospital in Zamboanga City for medical check-up & debriefing.
