Due to poverty, a desperate husband from Pasay City was arrested for caught stealing a door just to buy food for her pregnant wife.

The husband was known as Jay explained that he is supposed to sell the door for P200 to buy food for his pregnant wife.

The 31-year-old suspect explained that he picked up the wooden door that is placed outside of a printing shop at the West Service Road, Barangay 201. He is supposed to carry the door at a motorcycle driven by his colleague. The suspect thought that no one owns the door and it was not used anymore.

According to Jay, he lost his job as a construction worker due to the coronavirus pandemic. He also said that he is supposed to return to Bicol under the Balik Probinsya program.

The owner caught the suspects but the motorcycle rider was able to escape. Alyas Jay has been arrested due to the incident.

However, Jay had denied the accusations that he was involved in the incidents of stealing bicycles in the area since the start of lockdown. He also asked the owner not to sue him because it was the first time he was involved in a crime. But the owner would still think of it since he just wants to teach the suspect a lesson.
