The Department of Health in Western Visayas region has recorded no new positive cases of coronavirus disease 2019 for two days in a row.
Based on the Bulletin of the Department of Health (DOH) for the COVID-19 Case in Region 6, it shows that since April 12, the number of cases so far has remained at 40.
Panay News reported that all the three laboratory tests conducted by the Western Visayas Medical Center sub-national laboratory that was released on April 13, the results all came out negative for the virus.
As of April 13, among the 40 positive cases, 12 were confined in hospitals, 14 were on home quarantine, seven had recovered, and seven more fatalities. A total of about 853 more are suspected cases in the region.
The common symptoms disease are fever, tired. Some cases experience pains, nasal congestion, runny nose, sore throat or diarrhea.
The disease can spread from individual to individual via small droplets coming from the nose or mouth of the infected individual which can spread through coughing or even exhaling.
The droplets can land on objects and surfaces around the person, that can make them infected just by touching these objects or surfaces, then touch their eyes, nose or mouth.
There are now more than 5,000 positive COVID-19 cases in the country. The health department recorded at about 291 new cases summing up to 5, 223 cases on Tuesday.
The death toll has also risen to 335, adding the 20 fatalities that were recorded by the department. However, there are now 53 patients that have been recovered, bringing it to 295.
