Inmates from Penor Prison Works Everyday To Provide and Create PPE’s for Frontliners

In Kuantan, each prison inmates are working seven days a week (Everyday) just to provide PPE or personal protective equipment and protective gear for frontliners.

With around 18 inmates in Penor Prison were working almost every day to make personal protective equipment for the protection of the health workers.

The inmates are producing protective gear from 9 am to 5 pm each day. They measure, cut and stitch special materials to create protective suits. The prisoners want to help our medical personnel by helping them fight the deadly disease.

According to Datuk Abu Hasan Hussain, the Penor Prison director. He said that they have received 2,000 meters of material to produce a full protective suit. Each gear would require at least five meters to cover the entire body.

He said, “Currently, the workshop continues its operations on Saturdays and Sundays due to the urgent need for PPE following an increase in the number of COVID-19 positive cases”.

Every day, inmates can produce at least 20 sets of PPE, while Prison Women Staff and Wives of Prison Staff Association (Persiap) could generate 525 units of face shields for COVID-19 frontliners.
