Baby Patient from Oriental Mindoro Recovers from COVID-19

The patient who considered as the first confirmed case of COVID-19 in Oriental Mindoro was a baby patient. And by now, the baby was finally discharged from the hospital.

The patient was a 1-year and 9-month old baby that has been recovered from pneumonia and other respiratory ailments including dengue. The child was from Calapan, Oriental Mindoro, and was considered as the youngest case of COVID-19 in the country.

According to the statement of Oriental Mindoro Governor Humerlito A. Dolor at the Manila bulletin, the baby undergoes her second laboratory test, and the results came out negative. As of now, the baby recommended a 14 days quarantine and was given a home oral medicine.

The Governor also revealed that the baby’s gender was a little girl.

The patient was Patient 14, had a travel history in Muntinlupa before the Luzon-wide quarantine which was imposed on March 17.

Governor Dolor also added that the patient’s specimen will undergo another test at the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM) to confirm the result with the Department of Health’s protocol.

Dolor showed appreciation and thanked the doctors who took care of the patient and for doing their best to survive the baby.

Meanwhile, in MIMAROPA (Oriental Mindoro, Occidental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan), there are still eight remaining confirmed cases of COVID-19. In Marinduque there are four COVID-19 positive cases; Occidental Mindoro, 2 and one each for Romblon and Palawan.
