The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) announces to subsidize employee who will have to undergo quarantine procedure as to comply government advisory of community quarantine.
DOLE Secretary Silvestre Bello III confirmed the announcement in a livestreaming interview with DZMM Teleradyo Sunday, March 15, 2020.
According to Bello, the DOLE will be the one to subsidize the regular employee who is to undergo quarantine procedure if the later has no more leave credits left.
The DOLE memo issued about subsidizing employees who will undergo quarantine procedure is to be availed only by all regular employees with no more leave credits. Bello noted that the 100% payment by the DOLE is to be paid to the employer as reimbursement according to their regular salary.
“And then they will certify na wala na silang leave credits.
“So, it will now be the Department of Labor who will subsidize.
“Actually, ang subsidy dito ay mapupunta sa employer, who will use the subsidy to pay the employees,” explained Bello.
Bello also said that those non-regular employees to undergo the same quarantine procedure will be charged to the government “Emergency Employment Program”.
“Ito naman ay ibibigay namin yung Emergency Employment Program.
“Meaning, we will ask them to work, kaya lang ang ibibigay naming bayad ay minimum wage,” he said.
