Magnitude 3.7 Earthquake Hits Santa Cruz (Laguna) on Friday evening, February 14, 2020

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) recorded that the magnitude of 3.7 hits Santa Cruz (Laguna) at 08:28:48 PM on Friday evening, February 14, 2020. The location is 14.33°N, 121.38°E – 006 km N 38° W of Santa Cruz (Laguna) and the Depth of Focus (Km) is 007.

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) reported:

  • Intensity IV – Sta. Cruz, Laguna;
  • Intensity III – Luisiana and Pila, Laguna;
  • Intensity II – Sta. Rosa City, Laguna; Talisay, Batangas;
  • Intensity I – Bay, Laguna;

Instrumental Intensities:

  • Intensity I – Mauban and Dolores, Quezon

The Phivolcs mandates is to predict the occurrence of volcanic eruptions and earthquakes and their related geotectonic phenomena, Determine how eruptions and earthquakes shall occur and also areas likely to be affected, Generate sufficient data for forecasting volcanic eruptions and earthquakes, Mitigate hazards of volcanic activities through appropriate detection, forecast, and warning system, and Formulate appropriate disaster preparedness plans.
