According to the Hypermarket’s general manager of SM Mall and supermarket, it would be temporarily close down all its supermarkets on Maundy Thursday for disinfection.
Based on the interview of Arnold Paul Daluz with radio DZMM, he explained that this is to further ensure that customers and their staff are protected from the spread of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
Also, all SM Hypermarket and Savemore markets will be affected by the day-long shutdown.
“On Maundy Thursday we will close all stores, magsa-sanitize tayo. Aayusin natin isa-sanitize natin ang lahat ng mga tindahan natin sa Thursday,” Daluz said.
He also said that they have been doing round-the-clock disinfections in their supermarkets to help contain the spread of the virus.
He added, “We’re disinfecting every day, every night actually pagkapasok dini-disinfect ang pushcarts lahat sila nag-aalcohol to make sure that everyone [is safe].”
As of now, Luzon was still under enhanced community quarantine since March 17. All establishments are close except for those providing basic goods such as restaurants, supermarkets, and pharmacies.
Also, some parts of Visayas and Mindanao are also under the local quarantine measures.
