One of Boracay’s most beloved boutique resorts is bidding farewell to its original location after 36 years of welcoming travelers from around the world. The resort, known for its charming atmosphere and personalized service, announced plans to relocate or close operations in its long-standing beachfront spot as the island continues to evolve.

Since opening its doors in the late 1980s, the resort has become a fixture on Boracay’s White Beach, earning a loyal following for its intimate ambiance and commitment to sustainable tourism. Guests have praised the resort for its blend of local Filipino charm with modern comforts, making it a favorite among honeymooners, families, and returning visitors.

The management cited several factors for the decision, including:

  • Changes in local regulations and zoning policies aimed at controlling tourism development
  • The need to adapt to environmental sustainability standards imposed by the government
  • Economic considerations related to increasing operational costs and land lease agreements

While the resort has not yet confirmed its next steps, sources suggest that the owners are exploring possibilities to either relocate to a less congested part of the island or open a new boutique property elsewhere in the Philippines.

Longtime guests and local employees expressed mixed feelings about the news. Many shared fond memories of their stays and lamented the end of an era, while others expressed hope that the resort’s spirit would live on in its future ventures.

Local tourism advocates emphasized the importance of preserving Boracay’s unique character amid rapid development and increasing tourist arrivals.

Nigi Nigi Nu Noos announced on Facebook that company will close on Saturday, November 15.

Fans don’t need to worry because the resort will simply relocate to a different area of the island—exactly next to its sister property, Nigi Nigi Too, at Station 3.

“Don’t worry — this isn’t the end. It’s the start of something even better!” it said.

Nigi Nigi, which located on Station 2 of Boracay’s White Beach, is renowned for its relaxed charm with its comfortable Polynesian-style bungalows and a beach bar that has grown to be a popular destination for both residents and visitors.

The resort will have a four-day beach celebration from November 14 to 17 to commemorate its transformation. There will be dancing, music, food, and free shots every thirty minutes.

This is in line with the November 16 opening of its new restaurant and bar.

“Let’s say goodbye to an icon and raise a glass to the next chapter of Nigi Nigi,” stated Nigi Nigi.
