Forbes’ 2024 50 Over 50 Asia list has acknowledged the accomplishments of five Filipinas, celebrating women over the age of 50 for their achievements across various sectors. The annual compilation recognized 50 female CEOs, founders, and innovators from 14 countries and territories in Asia, spanning fields such as fashion, finance, and more.

In the 2023 edition of the 50 Over 50 Asia list, Kickstart Ventures president Minette Navarrette represented the Philippines as the sole Filipino honoree. However, this year, several Pinays secured spots on the list: Susan Co, Miriam Coronel-Ferrer, Dolly de Leon, Esther Go, and Anna Ma. Margarita B. Dy.

Among the distinguished women is 66-year-old Susan Co, co-founder of the Puregold supermarket chain and wife of businessman Lucio Co. Together, they boasted a net worth of $2.3 billion in August 2023, ranking 12th among the wealthiest in the Philippines.

Peace negotiator Miriam Coronel-Ferrer, aged 64, earned her spot for her contributions to the 2014 Comprehensive Agreement on the Bangsamoro. In November 2023, she received a Ramon Magsaysay Award for her advocacy of “inclusivity and women’s participation in peace-building.”

Renowned 54-year-old actress Dolly de Leon, recognized for her role in the Palme d’Or-winning film Triangle of Sadness, secured a place on the list. Her portrayal of cruise cleaning crew member Abigail earned her BAFTA and Golden Globe nominations, marking her as the first Filipino to achieve such recognition.

Health-tech firm Medilink’s head, Esther Go, aged 52, was also honored. She holds executive positions in various organizations, including Equicom Health Services, Equicom Savings Bank, and Security Bank.

The final Filipina on the list is Anna Ma. Margarita B. Dy, the inaugural CEO of property developer Ayala Land, who, at 54, was previously recognized as one of Asia’s Power Businesswomen in 2023.

Notable figures from other countries featured on the list include Lisa Lu from the Joy Luck Club, Australian pop icon Kylie Minogue, the first Chinese woman Nobel Prize winner Tu Youyou, and 112-year-old environmentalist Saalumarada Thimmakka.
