The Bragais shoes with the phrase “Walk.Win.” are the official footwear of the Miss Universe contestants for the 71st edition.
This is a tremendous award for Jojo Bragais, a Filipino shoe designer and manufacturer.
“I’m very happy to be back in the Miss Universe stage. This means a lot to me. This is both business and personal move in my career,” Bragais stated in an exclusive conversation with Cabinet Files on Monday, December 26, 2022.
Bragais first appeared as official footwear for the 69th Miss Universe pageant, which will take place on May 16, 2021, in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The Miss Universe Organization has chosen the proudly Philippine-made footwear as the shoe sponsor of the 71st edition of the iconic international beauty pageant, which will be held on January 14, 2023, in the New Orleans Morial Convention Center in New Orleans, Louisiana, USA.
Bragais submitted the Maureen shoe style or design to New Orleans for Miss Universe 2022.
The footwear is named Maureen in honor of Bragais’s friend, Miss Globe 2021 winner Maureen Montagne.
“The style for this year’s Miss Universe is Maureen, a tribute to a good friend Maureen Montagne,” Bragais explained.
Bragais is currently preoccupied with the shoes that will be worn by more than 80 Miss Universe 2022 contestants.
“Production started first week ng December. We were able to send to New Orleans the first batch of shoes last December 23 at yung second batch, today, December 26,” he explained.
For the first time, Bragais was unable to spend Christmas with his family since his time and attention were concentrated on the shoes that were delivered to America.
Bragais is likely to attend the 71st Miss Universe coronation because, as she did during the 69th Miss Universe coronation, she will personally guarantee that all Miss Universe participants feel at ease wearing Bragais footwear.
