The filing of charges against television presenter and actor Vhong Navarro was ordered by the Court of Appeals (CA).

The Department of Justice (DOJ) dismissed the charges in 2018 and 2020, but it appears that the case will continue. 

The actor was charged with the same offenses relating to the incident involving Cornejo in 2014, and the CA 14th Division directed the DOJ to bring those charges anew.

The order reversed the DOJ judgement after the CA determined that it was unreasonable for the DOJ to reject Cornejo’s petition for review because of the contradiction of her statements.

Remember that the DOJ dismissed the cases against the actor because there was insufficient probable cause and “major inconsistencies”. In the second, DOJ’s denial was based on the interaction being consensual between them.

Approximately at the same time, Navarro was involved in an incident that left him seriously hurt.

With the resurfacingof this matter—among the most contentious—many individuals felt compelled to voice their opinions.

Others criticized Navarro for it, while others thought that he was blameless aside from the fact that he later turned unfaithful to his then-girlfriend, who is currently his wife.
