After five years together, Leonardo DiCaprio and his model-turned-actress girlfriend Camila Morrone have apparently called it quits.
According to a source close to Leo, the 47-year-old Academy Award winner and the 25-year-old beauty ‘quietly’ ended their romance early this summer.
The recent separation appears to reflect a pattern set by the Once Upon a Time in Hollywood star of never openly dating a woman over the age of 25.
Insiders close to DiCaprio told the newspaper that he and Morrone have lately grown apart.
According to a source, “Leo and Camila ended their relationship over the summer,”
“There are no bad feelings between them. It just came to a natural conclusion.”
Camila was introduced to the Revenant star, who is 22 years her senior, in 2008, when she was only 12 years old.
The introductions were made by Leonardo’s old friend Al Pacino, who had dated Camila’s mother, Lucila Solá, for years, and Leonardo presumably stayed acquainted with the family for years.
Leonardo and Camila began dating in 2017, after his divorce from model Nina Agdal just days before the Cannes Film Festival, but both parties initially denied the relationship.
The two boosted the notoriety of their relationship the following year when they attended Ellen DeGeneres’ birthday party together, and they were later photographed showing off some PDA at Coachella.
Later that year, an unidentified insider told People that the couple’s relationship had become more serious as they were “very in love and serious” and had “talked about getting engaged.”
According to the insider, Leo had ‘never loved a female like this before’, and he was even thinking about having children with his new love.
Leo’s vow not to publicly discuss his relationship was put to the test in 2019 when both he and Camila had films premiere at the Cannes Film Festival.
He was there to promote his Quentin Tarantino feature Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, while she was there to promote her celebrated drama Mickey And The Bear, but the two didn’t walk together at either showing, and he didn’t identify her as his girlfriend.
Camila also reminded her admirers of Leo’s predilection for dating young women in the summer of 2019 when she uploaded a love photo of Humphrey Bogart and his much younger wife Lauren Bacall.
She captioned it, despite the fact that many admirers chastised her for dating a much older guy.
In reaction to the backlash, she stated in her Instagram Stories, ‘My goodness, people are so cruel and full of hate with individuals they know nothing about.’ ‘ I guess I simply hope that on this Friday, people learn to live with a little less hatred and devote their time and energy to other things, since life without hatred feels quite wonderful.’
They continued to walk red carpets individually in 2020, but they made their first public appearance as a couple that year when they sat together inside the Oscars ceremony.
