In honor of Eid’l Adha, one of the two main Muslim holidays, the Marcos government had announced July 9 to be a regular holiday.

Executive Secretary Vic Rodriguez signed Proclamation No. 2 on July 6, 2022, which confirmed the proclamation.

“Now, therefore, I, Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare Saturday, July 9, 2022, a regular holiday throughout the country in observance of Eid’l Adha,” the proclamation reads.

Duterte declares May 3 Eid'l Fitr holiday

After the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos’ recommendation, the Palace issued the proclamation.

The proclamation states that “Following the 1443 Hijrah Islamic Lunar Calendar, the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos has recommended that Saturday, July 9, 2022, be declared a national holiday, in observance of Eid’l Adha.”
