Aiai Delas Alas’s permanent residency in America is still active.
As she works to become a full-fledged US citizen, she and her husband, Gerald Sibayan, are working on her green card, or the document proving her ability to live and work in the US.
“Pinetisyon ko na s’ya saka nag-biometics na s’ya. Hopefully, in God’s grace and in God’s time, lumabas na ‘yung green card n’ya.
“May backlog kasi dahil nagka-pandemic usually kasi ‘pag wala mga six months to one year, green card holder na rin s’ya siguro.
“Ngayon aabot ng two years kasi may backlog nga,” Ai Ai said.
Even her adopted son, Seth Andrei, will be petitioned to become a legal resident of the United States as part of Aiai.
“Ngayon si Seth nag-aaral s’ya, inaayos-ayos ko na ‘yung papers n’ya, ‘yung kanyang adoption papers para legalized na Sibayan na s’ya and ‘yun nga hopefully rin magawan ko ng paraan na makamasa na namin siya.”
When we asked if she was still interested in having children through surrogacy, she said, “I’ll let you know when I’m ready to announce.”
Aiai continued to work while in America.
In fact, he has already begun ordering his bread and pastries online with his colleagues in San Francisco, California.
“Online lang, practice muna and then ‘pag super successful siya, hopefully din sana makapagtayo ako kahit maliit lang pero, for the meantime, online lang muna.”
Aiai is relieved that he can now do things that he could not do in the Philippines.
If she is a celebrity in her own country, she does a good job as Gerald’s housewife in America.
As a member of the Raising Mom cast, “Siyempre dito wala naman kaming mga maids, wala kaming mga driver, lahat ako pero ang maganda no’n natututo na ‘ko.
“Natutunan ko nang maglagay ng gasoline sa kotse, nagda-drive na rin ako ‘tapos lahat dito ikaw ‘yung maggo-grocery, ikaw ‘yung laba, plantsa lahat.
“Actually more of housewife ako dito kaya happy naman ako kasi ‘yun naman talaga ‘yung dream ko noon-noon pa kaya lang binigay sa ‘kin na Lord na maging isang artista.”
