The heartthrob actor opened all about his divorce from Barbie and why they agreed to stop their relationship. The first reason given by Diego is that their relationship is no longer healthy.

“Ang dami nang pangyayari. Every time it (hindi pagkakaintindihan) would happen, we would check each other out in the relationship and be, like, ‘Are we sure we still want this? Are we sure we’re still in the right track?”

Inside an interview with RX’s “All Out!” show. Diego revealed at 93.1 FM on Monday, June 6, that he and Barbie tried to restore their relationship when it fell apart in December 2021.

“When we reached the point bandang December, we reassessed and we were parang we’re not helping each other grow anymore.”

“And we both came to the agreement na ‘We’re not good for each other right now, so I think it’s better (to break up),” he stated.

Diego also stated why they met again in March 2022 in a café in Pasig City, when everybody assumed they had returned. This is after the young man returned from an extended vacation in America.

“‘We discussed yung honesty talaga, ‘What happened while you were away? Ikaw naman, what did you do here while I was away? Kaya pa ba natin or hindi?’

“We tried, we did. We really did try. We tried, like, see, ‘Kaya pa ba natin? ’ And hindi pa rin, e.

Like, I really feel like I’m gonna stop her from growing if this continues and the same, vice versa talaga,” kuwento ni Diego.

At hindi raw selos ang karaniwang nagiging dahilan ng kanilang misunderstanding kundi “silent competition”.

“May feeling na may competition, in a way, because we’re both artists, and as our industry is, it’s unspoken.

“Pero there’s always some sort of underlying competition in everything that we do.

“And I don’t think that was healthy. I think that attributed to the reasons why we would fight, why we wouldn’t understand each other, or see things eye to eye.

“It’s not really because we got jealous of one another. It was more of this is not a healthy relationship. As much as we love each other, things aren’t going the way that they should be,” Diego stated.

Meanwhile, Diego revealed in the same interview that they were dating former “Pinoy Big Brother” housemate Franki Russel.

When asked about it, the first thing he replied was, “Franki and I are not a thing.” Diego revealed that when he was interviewed about it, they had just met the girl for ten days.

“We’ve known each other for 10 days, we’re not a thing,” katuwiran ng aktor. Who am I to say… I can’t give a label that we’re something right now, na kami na, ganu’n. I can’t.
