In the forthcoming Premier Volleyball League Invitational Conference, which will start off the following week, Deanna Wong is anticipated to play for the Choco Mucho Flying Titans.
Oliver Almadro, the elite setter’s coach, claims that due to her persistent ailments, his star player won’t be in peak condition.
“Yeah, she’ll be playing but ano, right now hindi pa siya 100%,” Almadro made this statement during the PVL Invitational Conference news conference on Tuesday.
“She’s still recovering, doing therapy para maging game-ready siya this season,” he continued.
According to the multi-titled coach, Wong is taking part in preparation for the match.
Wong’s minimal contributions to the club, according to Almadro, were caused by shin and calf ailments. Almadro is placing a high priority on ensuring the full recovery of the former Ateneo standout, despite the fact that he would miss Wong’s services while she is at the height of her game.
Almarado said, “Recuperating. Paulit-ulit na ‘yung injury niya sa shins niya, sa calf niya. Right after college, ‘yun na ‘yung iniinda niya, and siyempre ‘yun, tuloy-tuloy ang therapy,”
“And alam niyo naman, sa atin sa Pilipinas, kailangan ‘yung alaga sa katawan, strengthening, kailangan continuous ‘yan,” he continued.
As Des Cheng is also dealing with an ailment, Wong is one of two Flying Titans who are trying to get well.
Cheng will apparently not be “100 percent” for the upcoming match, much like the setter. Maddie Madayag, a middle blocker, will continue to miss the conference because of an injury.
As long as people like Isa Molde, Aduke Ogunsanya, Kat Tolentino, Ponggay Gaston, and Caitlyn Viray are still at Almadro’s beck and call, Choco Mucho will continue to be a force to be reckoned with.
Since joining the PVL, the Flying Titans are attempting to secure their first podium finish.
Almarado said, “I am confident with my players, and they’re happy with their training. Hopefully we turn that into winning naman,”
On July 9, Choco Mucho competes on the conference’s opening day, playing Chery Tiggo in the second game of a doubleheader that follows the Cignal HD Spikers’ match against the Black Mamba Army.
