The shooter has been identified as Salvador Ramos, 18. Mr. Abbott stated that Ramos “horrifically and incomprehensibly” carried out the mass massacre alone before being shot dead by law enforcement.
Ramos, according to Mr. Abbott, was a Uvalde High School student who lived in a little town 130 kilometers (80 miles) west of San Antonio.
Following the shooting atrocity, President Biden advised the nation it was time to “turn this pain into action” and tighten gun regulations.
“Why are we willing to live with this carnage?” he said in the Oval Office. “Where in God’s name is our backbone, to have the courage to deal with this and stand up to the [gun] lobbies?”
The shooting caused the school to be placed on lockdown. Students were brought to the St. Willie Delon Civic Centre to be joined with their families.
