On Thursday, tensions appeared to have developed between supporters of candidate for president Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and Vice President Leni Robredo at a mall in Makati City. Both parties displayed their strength as they walked past the Rockwell Powerplant Mall, which was filled with Marcos supporters and Robredo supporters.
Two groups of “Leni” and “BBM” yelled as they gathered on the mall’s lower ground floor.
Security guards were added at the mall to prevent tension from developing.
Some Marcos supporters expressed a desire to counter the anti-UniTeam statements.
“Kasi one time we went to a coffee shop, and they said, ‘Ma’am we are so happy that you are here dahil iyong mga BBM daw hindi kaya mag-Starbucks, at hindi nagmo-mall.’ Sabi namin, ano?” Frannie Romualdez, first cousin of Marcos, stated.
Someone was bringing out red flowers, while another had brought a large pink stuffed bear named “Leni Bear.”
Calleja the supporter of Leni stated that, “One week na lang, wala nang urungan ito sa laban sa ating kampanya para kay Leni at Kiko. So kung meron man d’yan na nagtatangka o whatever, poprotektahan namin si Leni bear hanggang dulo. Todo na ‘to! Para sa pagprotekta natin kay Leni at Kiko at sa pagprotekta natin sa ating boto come May 9.”
