Manny Pacquiao, a presidential contender, is delighted with his son, Jimuel Pacquiao, who won his first amateur junior welterweight fight in the United States.
Jimuel’s battle against Andres Rosales took place this past Saturday, March 12th, at the House of Boxing Gym in San Diego, California (Sunday, March 13 in the Philippines). “Congratulations on your first amateur fight and your first win,” the Wild Card Gym said in a statement about the actor/boxer’s accomplishments.
Despite he regretted that he didn’t personally watch Jinkee’s eldest kid because he was too occupied with the campaign, he instantly congratulated him after his match in America.
Pambansang Kamao also tweeted a congratulations message for the boxer’s son on his official Instagram profile.
“Emmanuel Pacquiao Jr. moved his amateur record to 1-0 on Saturday with a decision win over Andres Rosales at the House of Boxing gym in San Diego, Calif”, according to the article.
Pacquiao Jr. had previously engaged in unsanctioned bouts in Manila, therefore this was his first sanctioned amateur battle.
Pacquiao, 21, of General Santos City, Philippines, routinely outboxed his opponent in front of a raucous crowd with a strong jab and a deceptive overhand right.
“There were no knockdowns or scores read, only the announcement that Pacquiao in the red corner had emerged victorious.
“Marvin Somodio, who has been an assistant to Pacquiao Jr.’s eight division champion father for a decade, liked what he saw from the young man known as ‘Jimuel.’
“’This is only his first amateur fight but he showed me that he has heart. He’ll get better and stronger,’” said Somodio of Pacquiao Jr.”
