Iloilo City Mayor Jerry P. Treñas Wrote Letter Addressed to Sec. Leonor M. Briones On Class Opening

Iloilo City Mayor Hon. Jerry P. Treñas issued official statement that he is not favor to the opening of classes this school year 2020-2021.

Treñas, on his statement concerning the DepEd Order No. 007, series of 2020 dated May 11, 2020 stating the opening of classes on the 24th day of August 2020 is not recommendable so far in the since that there is still no available vaccine against the COVID-19 disease which harmful for the children to go to school.

In a Facebook post of Mark Lopez, the same report posted in the wall saying,

“For me, I will not encourage the children to go to school, yet, because we know there is still presence of virus and really because of the great responsibility of transmission because of failure of physical distancing. If the parents will not let their children go to school, we will not insist. What is one year closure anyway, it is about lives we are taking into consideration,” notice of the Mayor said.

In a written statement address to Sec. Leonor M. Briones, the City Mayor informed the office of the secretary about the ineffectiveness of the class due to some restrictions implemented in the city as well national advisory.
