With over 200 more OFWs has arrived in the country on Sunday. They are the latest batch of Filipino workers that return back to the Philippines amid the COVID-19 health crisis that is affecting the world.
There are 233 OFWs that arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) on two separate flights with the Korean Air KE0623 and Philippine Airlines PR8510, said the (DFA) Department of Foreign Affairs.
The arrivals of the OFWs brings the total number of Filipinos that repatriated to 16,911.
The repatriates that came on Sunday was facilitated by the Philippine Embassies in Jakarta, Singapore, and Nairobi and the Philippine Consulate in Manado, Indonesia, in coordination with the DFA and the employers of the OFWs.
According to the DFA, the overseas Filipinos who came back from Indonesia, Kenya, and Singapore, are the land-based workers whose jobs were affected by the COVID-19.
“Their respective employers paid for their plane fare to Manila,” it added.
Based on the procedure, the repatriates had undergone the mandatory health inspection upon arrival. After that, they will be sent to there designated facilities to undergo the mandatory 14-day quarantine.
