In Negros Occidental, at least 66 probing patients who undergo the rapid test method for COVID-19, were tested “non-reactive” or negative for the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
According to former Rep. Alfredo Benitez, the swab samples of the PUI’s were sent to the Iloilo Regional Testing Center for official validation.
Alfredo Abelardo “Albee” Bantug Benitez is a Filipino businessman and politician. Benitez served three consecutive terms as the Representative of Negros Occidental’s 3rd district from 2010 to 2019. He was also one of the richest congressmen in the Philippines.
However, there are 36 more PUIs in Negros Occidental that was tested for the COVID-19 test on Friday for a total of 102 persons. Based on the official results of the swab tests, it would come in a day or two, Benitez said.
He said, “If the rapid testing results were positive, chances are there is a virus. Whether it is COVID or not, we could then take extra precautions immediately by isolating a person pending the results of the DOH test.”
Benitez also said he would like to see the province of Negros Occidental as the first province to be declared COVID-19-free.
Benitez said, “We are waiting for the test results of Bacolod. They are on board, I just don’t have an update yet.”
