President Rodrigo Duterte is set to make an announcement regarding the threat of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in the country on Thursday night, March 19, 2020. According to Philstar.com, the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Infectious Disease has adopted a resolution containing the implementation of measures intended to contain the spread of the coronavirus.

The proposed measures will be submitted to President Rodrigo Roa Duterte later today.

Malacañang on Thursday evening warned local government officials of administrative and criminal charges if they will not follow the guidelines set by the national government and the Inter-Agency Task Force on COVID-19.

Right now, kanya-kanyang diskarte ang mga local government units kaya nagkakagulo daw. Kaya sabi ni Presidente, you have to follow the guidelines. Otherwise, those who will go against the guidelines will have to face administrative charges and criminal charges, Palace spokesman Salvador Panelo says.

Recently, DOH recorded COVID-19 has infected 217 people in the Philippines, with 17 deaths and 8 recovered.

Globally, over 227,952 have been infected and nearly 9,312 have died because of the viral disease that was first detected in Hubei, China. Over 85,985, have recovered from the deadly disease.
