Another rounds in the world of social media catching the attention of the netizens following after the issue of the franchise renewal of the giant broadcasting network of the country, ABS-CBN Network.

Recently, the issue about ownership of Eugenio ‘Gabby’ La’O Lopez III to the said broadcasting network is what makes the netizen caught the interest, as he is an American citizen holding the ownership of the ABS-CBN Network relating to as the cited violation against Article XVI, Section 11 (1) stating…

“The ownership and management of mass media shall be limited to citizens of the Philippines, or to corporations, cooperatives or associations, wholly-owned and managed by such citizens.”

This means that ABS-CBN violates the 1995 law relating to its renewal of franchise “subject to the provisions of the Constitution.”

This could make the Congress hesitant to issue the renewal of the ABS-CBN franchise due to the fact that the primary shareholder of the company is an American citizen hidden since the previous administration.

According to report, it’s on the year 2004 Lopez got his citizenship as Filipino after the government grant Dual Citizenship Law in the country. But only this time after the senate hearing that people knows that the owner of the ABS-CBN Eugenio ‘Gabby’ La’O Lopez is a United States citizen.
