Pinoy seaman onboard in one of the world’s luxurious cruise ship docked in Japan has tested positive of a deadly coronavirus while 537 Filipinos have been quarantined onboard in a cruise ship in Japan.
According to the CNN news, the Diamond Princes Cruise Ship who has been docked in Japan’s Yokohama Bay was locked down after a passenger of 80-year-old man tested positive of the 2019-nCoV. Reportedly the said passenger has already disembarked 12 days before other people in the cruise ship was detected of symptoms.
Several people on-board also tested positive of coronavirus aside from a Pinoy seaman who is a crew member of Diamond Princes cruise ship, some other nationals that include 3 Chinese nationals from Hong Kong, 3 Japanese, 2 Australians and the American guest are also tested positive.
The cruise operator took immediate action to transport the Filipino crew and 9 others ashore by a watercraft of Japanese Coast Guard and bring to the nearest local hospital in Japan.
Report said, Japanese authorities are still verifying the test result of more than 100 test samples from other passengers.
The Diamond Princes Cruise Ship is placed under quarantine for 14 days isolate and monitor 2,666 guests and 1,045 crew members on board the ship. Medical officials on duty are going room-to-room regular inspection to check and monitor each of their health and temperature.
The novel coronavirus originated in Wuhan China infecting more than 20,000 people in just two months since the time discovered by the health experts. Record of casualties show 227 deaths from which 425 were in mainland China.
