Locusts are a type of grasshoppers, desert locusts live for about three months. Female locusts can lay almost 300 eggs at one time with the flying capacity of 150 km a day with the wind.

“So Moses stretched out his staff over Egypt, and the Lord made an east wind blow across the land all that day and all that night.

About 3.6 lakh hectares of land in 10 districts in Western Rajasthan has been destroyed in what is being called the worst locust invasion in the last 60 years.

Sri Ganga Nagar is seeing one of their most severe locust plagues with 75% of standing crops damaged because of it. The plague has already affected about 11 districts in Rajasthan. (Source in the Video)

The United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) stated that Kenya has been hit by the most severe desert locust invasion in 70 years. The damaged area is already 2,400 square km, affecting 9 counties. Previously, they originated in Somalia and Ethiopia, where tens of thousands of locusts ruined crops and threatened the supply of food before crossing over to Kenya.
