Taal Volcano Update on January 15, 2020, PHIVOLCS Found New Signs of Stronger Volcanic Eruption

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) issued another warning advisory on January 15, 2020 total evacuation of villagers within the perimeter of affected areas in Batangas because of the worst case scenario that Taal Volcano will burst again to a stronger explosion.

According to the report PHIVOLCS found another new signs of explosion like of the continuous earthquake and the volcanic fissures as a result of rising magma in Taal Volcano.

A video report from DZMM TeleRadyo shows new long volcanic fissures in Brgy. Sinisian East, Lemery, Batangas from the highway across to the sea that destroyed 20 houses where the volcanic fissure is passing through.

According to Volcano Monitoring and Eruption Prediction Division Chief Ma. Antonia Bornas, the citing of fissures or fractures were also seen in 1911 before progression to a climatic explosive condition of Taal Volcano.

“Ito pong fissures na ito or fractures, ito po ay nangyari din nung 1911 na pagputok ng bulkan bago po nagprogress sa climactic o explosive eruption,” she said.

According to the folks in the barangay, they first seen the volcanic fissures on Monday but it was getting worse after continues earthquake in the area were taking place.

Bornas said, the continuous quake in the area and the new occurrence of volcanic fissures is an indication of magma coming up.

“Ito pong mga na-observe natin na tuloy-tuloy na paglindol na malalaki, kasama ng fissuring o mga panibagong fissures, naghuhudyat po na meron talagang magma na umaakyat pa sa Taal,” she said.

Meanwhile, report said, volcanic activity of Taal Volcano is now reducing compare the other day but we will not take it for granted.

“Hindi po porke’t humina ang intensity ng surface activity ay ibig sabihin ay naibsan po ang panganib, lalo na po ngayong meron na tayong fissuring,” she added.

Lately, authorities issued advisory of total banning of villagers from going back to their home near Tala Volcano.
