The most awaited world-class festival of the City of Smile, the Bacolod Masskara Festival is set to sound a gong once again on the first week of October this year as expected about a month-long of celebration.
Another tremendous experience this year to witness Bacolodnons various events and presentations like the Street Dancing with their colorful costumed dancers, masks and headdresses competition, beauty pageant, concerts, food festival and street parties and a lot more that will attract hundreds of thousands both foreign and domestic visitors in the city.
Based on my incomparable experience, the irresistible part of the festival celebration is the main event of the Masskara Festival, the street dancing competition that overwhelmed me so much and allured me for staying on the street for a long period of time under the heat of the sun watching colorful costumes of dancers with their headdresses who can move along the timing of the rhythm of the music.
So for your proper guidance of the main activities of Masskara Festival 2017, here is the list of official schedule of primary activities. Please be guided accordingly.
This year competition, the street and arena dance showdown will become more exciting due to the increasing number of participants wishing to take home honor and prizes are 15 barangays for Barangay Category and we have 11 participating schools for the School Category.
For the Barangay Category includes Barangay 5, 7, 8, 15, 18, 26, 29, 39, 40, Alijis, Banago, Mandalagan, Pahanocoy, Punta Taytay, and Barangay Tangub. For School Category, once school per district includes Education and Training Center School (ETCS)- I (District VI), Banago Elementary School II (District I), Bata ES II (District II), Mabini ES (District III), Mariano G. Medalla Integrated School (District VII), Handumanan ES I (District IV) and , Luis Puentevella ES (District V). And for the secondary participating schools, with one school per unit includes Bacolod City NHS (Unit III), Domingo Lacson National High School (Unit I), Paglaum NHS (Unit IV) and, Romanito Maravilla NHS (Unit II).
If you desire to follow the street dancing competition, for your information, you better position yourself between Lizares-Araneta Streets to Bacolod Public Plaza and be satisfied with your eyes watching them on the street.
