It is officially announce that Liza Soberano will play the iconic role Darna. The long wait is over, Liza Soberano confirmed during interviewed by ABS-CBN on Tuesday, May 30, 2017.

“Yes, it is confirmed. Tinatanggap ko na ang role na Darna (I’ve accepted the role of Darna),” said Liza Soberano. Sobrang na-excite ako. Siyempre happy and I feel really honored to don the iconic costume and to be able to embody what Darna represents, she added.

Darna movie director Erik Matti posted on Twitter, “And… it’s out of the bag” along with the hashtag “#Darna.”

Star Cinema Chief Operating Officer Malou Santos, Creative Head Olivia Lamasan, Production Head Marizel Samson-Martinez, represent Liza Soberano as the new Darna.

Liza was started training since last month and been dieting for the role as well. She wanted to get fit and look healthy onscreen. She also do stunt training, as well as more acting and dialogue workshops.
