Kapuso actress and comedy queen AiAi Delas Alas received an award of Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice or For the Church and Pope for her distinguished service to the church.  The medal was from the Catholic Church head Pope Francis.

Receiver of the medal according to Bishop Antonio Tobias should be exemplary lay persons being recognized for their extraordinary service.  Aside from Delas Alas, renowned composer Ryab Cayabyab also is a recipient of the medal.  It is considered to be the highest medal awarded to the laity by the Pope.

In an interview with her from GMA News, AiAi admitted that she was surprised to receive the award and somehow doubted if she was worthy of it.  But according to her, she will just follow God’s plan for her despite her weaknesses and imperfections.  She is set to formally receive the  Papal Award on November 11, her birthday at the Cathedral of Good Shepherd.

The Sunday Pinasaya star is currently busy with her charity works such as in the construction of Kristong Hari Church located in Commonwealth Ave., Quezon City and Anawim Lay Missions Foundations, Inc in Montalban, Rizal.

Delas Alas considers the award given to her as a challenge for her to serve as a good example to many other Catholics.
