Just this Tuesday, April 12, 2016 it has been declared by the Commission on Elections that they will set to file charge on hackers of the Comelec website. They are also willing in sanctioning it’s own workers for fair and unprecedented breach of online security.
Just recently, last March 27 that they had already accessed the forms and database of the statistic reports of the 55 million registered voters.
The Comelec spokesman James Jimenez said in the conference, “Obviously, Comelec has to run after the people who actually did this. Once they are identified and apprehended, there will be legal actions taken against them, as well as those who have been taking advantage of what they did,”
It has been stated that the NBI also are in the ‘good lead’ in identifying the hackers, stated by Ronald Aguto Jr, chief of the cybercrime division of the National Bureau of Investigation. He stated, “We were hoping that in the next few days, we’ll be able to identify, arrest, and charge the persons responsible,”
They are still preparing the said charges that will be made. Again, the people in the Comelec are open in sanctioning their own personnel, according to Jimenez.
