As being one step closer in changing it’s flag is so much possible for The Pacific nation of New Zealand. There were given designs and any voters had selected one top design that was shortlisted from the votes of thousands and millions of people’s submission.
The votes chosen black, white, and blue silver fern flag design. This will have another vote and referrals on March in coordinating with the current flag that was feat in the British Union Jack.
One of the biggest supporter in changing the flag is Prime Minister John Key. Exerted so much effort and had been too tied up with the country and it’s colonial past. He also stated because of being similar to the flag of Australia.
He stressed. “The reason why I support the change of a flag is simply because we will wear it, use it and promote it more. It’s therefore all about national pride and recognition of our country and showing the world how great we think New Zealand is…and I don’t think we do that very much with our current flag,”
Out of over 10,000 submissions, a Flag Consideration Panel composed of prominent and respected New Zelanders drew out the final shortlist.
