Senator Miriam Defensor Santiago revealed on Wednesday that she has been suffering from lung cancer stage four. She said at a press conference at the senate; “Ladies and gentlemen, allow me introduce myself to you as the only senator who has been diagnosed with the lung cancer”.

“I have come so you can see me personally before cancer ravages my body”, she added. She said also, the cancer is causing difficulty in breathing and the cancer is not metastatic, hoping with the medication of taking that the can be cured in six months.

The former trial court judge announce that she was suffered a stage four cancer of the left lung last week but doesn’t spreading.

“I don’t know what the reactions of my enemies are. Maybe they will be happy because on one hand I might die and then they could get rid of me. But on the other hand I might survive and then I will get rid of them”, the 69 year-old-senator said.

Senator Miriam Santiago will undergo in chemotherapy treatment and she was hoping to be cured in six weeks of treatment.

Last month, she was complained of chronic fatigue; “I was very excited. I’m not kidding, yes! I got cancer!” she told to news conference.
