Manuel Elijah Sarausad the 6th placer of October 2013 BAR exams receives a car incentive from the University of Cebu as a way of the school administration to encouragement every graduates who will take the BAR Exam to excel.
According to Candice Gotianuy, chancellor of the University of Cebu, Manuel Sarausad will drive home a brand new Toyota by tomorrow as a gift from Cebu University administration being the 6th placer of the BAR Exam.
“We really want them to do well. The car is our way of encouraging them to excel,” explained Gotianuy.
“The University of Cebu gifts all bar topnotchers with a car.”
Atty. Baldomero Estenzo, the dean of the Law School, said he was not surprised for Manuel Sarausad to be one of the topnotchers as he ranked sixth place in the BAR Exam.
“He’s really a good student,” Estenzo said. But he’s extremely proud of Sarausad, one of the university’s scholars.
He admitted that being in the province is hard for to get a BAR exams because they need to sacrifice everything just to come to Manila to take the BAR exam.
“They have to worry about going to Manila, the living expenses, and then they must deal with being away from their families,” Estenzo explained.
Estenzo also added that in Sarausad’s case is not easy for him because he need to leave his young family behind for more than two months to take the review and then proceed for the exams.
The University of Cebu has been around for 50 years but the Law School was only established in 2002. From the time the Law School was open in the university, they have produced 2-topnotchers, since then, Gotianuy has challenge the dean of the Law School to try its best to get into the top ten this year.
“I told him I’d also give him a car if he can get us a topnotcher,” Gotianuy said.
Estenzo did. And this week, he too will be driving home a brand new car.
