Marcos Camp Says P272-M Spent in Presidential Campaign

The Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP) announced on Monday that it spent P272 million on its standard bearer, Ferdinand Marcos Jr.,’s presidential campaign, adding that the total is “well below” the expenditure limit for political parties.

Bongbong Marcos’ 2022 presidential campaign began on October 6, 2021, when he filed his candidacy for the 2022 Philippine presidential election with the Partido Federal ng Pilipinas.

At the peak of his father’s reign in 1980, Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., 64, was elected unopposed to vice gubernatorial seats in Ilocos Norte, and afterwards to congressional seats representing the same province after his family’s return to the Philippines in 1991.

He also served as a senator from 2010 to 2016, until losing a reelection campaign to Vice President Leni Robredo in 2016.

“The PFP spent P272 million by way of expenses in the last 2022 presidential campaign, which is well below the maximum expenditure of P337 million allowed by law for a national political party,” PFP general counsel George Briones said in a statement.

“The PFP SOCE was signed and prepared by PFP National Treasurer Antonio Ernesto “Anton” Lagdameo, who was recently nominated by President Elect Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. as his SAP or Special Assistant to the President,” he explained.
