Asia’s Nightingale, also known as Filipino music icon Lani Misalucha, talked about her forty years in the music business and how her career as one of the country’s most renowned vocalists has been defined by thankfulness and tenacity.

Misalucha discussed hitting the milestone of 40 years in the entertainment world in an interview with ABS-CBN News.

The singer also discussed the difficulties she and her spouse had personally encountered over the years.

“I never thought I’d be able to bounce back, despite what happened to me and my husband,” she said.

Misalucha’s voice has long been connected to poignant ballads and stirring performances for a large number of Filipinos, especially in songs like “Bukas Na Lang Kita Mamahalin.”

When asked how she portrays intense emotion in her performances, Misalucha replied that she starts by comprehending the narrative of each song.

Many listeners frequently believe that the feelings she conveys in her songs are reflections of their own experiences.

However, Misalucha believes that singing a song is also about making a narrative come to life.

Misalucha has performed in a variety of genres during her career, including pop, ballads, classical music, and opera.

When asked which song was the hardest for her to sing, she recounted a scene from her first big show.

According to Misalucha, the piece thereafter became a mainstay in her performances for many years. “I continued to perform Nessun Dorma for many years after that.”

Later, she said, her husband encouraged her to find another challenging piece.

Misalucha acknowledged that even with her broad vocal range, she still avoids some styles.

A message for aspiring singers

Misalucha inspired aspiring musicians to stick to their love and keep honing their skill because many young vocalists looked up to her career.

When Misalucha thought back to her early career, she realized that the path would not always be simple.

Gratitude to fans

Misalucha also expressed her gratitude to her supporters over the years.

“I would like to be remembered as a singer who sings with all her heart,” Misalucha said in a straightforward but sincere response when asked how she believes people will remember her.

Misalucha’s voice has been one of the most recognizable in Filipino music for forty years. For admirers who have followed her career over the years, Asia’s Nightingale continues to demonstrate that singing from the heart and with sincerity is what makes a performance genuinely timeless.
