For Blinks, the wait is finally over!
After months of speculation over when the K-pop phenomenon would release a new album, Blackpink finally revealed late on Wednesday that they would make their much awaited return in February with their third extended play (EP).
The four-member group announced on social media that they will release the EP, “Deadline,” on February 27 in a 19-second video.
There were no immediate information available about the EP, which was called after the group’s current global tour.
“Jump” was a pre-release song from the group’s upcoming EP that was published last year. After recording “The Girls” for their mobile game in 2023, it was their first new song in almost two years.
In contrast, “Born Pink” was their most recent album, released in 2022.
In recent months, there has been a lot of media conjecture on Blackpink’s return date. According to rumors, the group was initially anticipated to make a comeback in the last quarter of 2025.
As part of their “Deadline” tour in November, the quartet—Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé, and Lisa—performed for two nights at the Philippine Arena, showcasing “Jump” in addition to previous hits and brand-new tracks from their individual solo albums.
The comeback also aligns with rumors that BLACKPINK may embark on a new world tour later in 2026, although official details have yet to be confirmed by YG Entertainment.
Industry insiders expect that the group will use this EP as a launching pad for expansive promotional activities, including live performances, variety show appearances, and interactive fan events.
Since their debut in 2016, BLACKPINK has become a global phenomenon, breaking records and pushing K-pop onto the world stage. With multiple chart-topping albums, sold-out stadium tours, and collaborations with artists like Lady Gaga, Selena Gomez, and Dua Lipa, BLACKPINK’s influence continues to grow.
The release of “Deadline” will mark their first major project since their last album “Born Pink” in 2022, which solidified their position as one of the world’s leading girl groups.
