According to South Korean authorities on Sunday, K-pop star Nana assisted in subduing a house intruder and is recuperating in the hospital after sustaining injuries during the altercation.

The K-pop star’s home was broken into early on Saturday by a man in his 30s, who was apprehended by Nana and her mother.

According to South Korea’s Yonhap news agency, the 34-year-old celebrity and her mother, who sustained severe injuries and lost consciousness, are receiving medical attention in a hospital.

A detective at the Guri Police Station told AFP that the burglar broke into Nana’s home in the Seoul outskirts in order to take items.

“She and her mother overpowered the intruder, a man in his 30s, in a physical struggle, resulting in his arrest,” according to the investigator.

He said that the guy is being held on suspicion of aggravated robbery.

Nana, whose true name is Im Jin-ah, is a singer-turned-actress with a devoted following who first gained notoriety as a member of Orange Caramel, a female group After School sub-unit. Over 35 million people have watched the trio’s “Catallena” music video on YouTube.

AFP’s request for comment has not received a response from Nana’s agency.

After making her acting debut in 2009 as a member of After School, Nana went on to acquire a number of prominent roles in dramas on television.

News of the incident led to an outpouring of support from fans worldwide. The hashtag #StaySafeNana quickly trended on social media as fans expressed both concern and admiration.

“Nana is so brave. I’m glad she’s safe,” one fan wrote.
“No one deserves to go through this. Sending love and protection to her,” another posted.

Many also called for stricter laws and improved security measures for celebrities, especially given the growing cases of stalking and unauthorized intrusions affecting artists in South Korea.
