The Pantone Color Institute has designated this red hue as the color of the year 2023.
Every year, the Pantone Color Institute announces the color for the following year ahead of time. It is often the starting point for some families when deciding on a theme color for their New Year’s celebration. Pantone has named “Viva Magenta” the color of the year for 2023.
Pantone chose the red shade “Viva Magenta” as the color of the year for 2013.
Many people are now getting ready for the Christmas and New Year’s holidays. In the Philippines and other parts of the country, one of the most common traditions is to wear a shirt that matches the color of the year.
The Pantone Color Institute is one of those that chooses a color and announces it several weeks before the start of the new year. The color chosen for 2022 was “Very Peri,” a shade of blue.
Pantone has announced the color of the year 2023 for next year. It’s “Viva Magenta.” The aforementioned color is descended from the red family.
Pantone Color Institute Executive Director Leatrice Eiseman stated on Pantone’s official website that they want to draw inspiration from nature and reality in this age of technology. She went on to say, “Viva Magenta reconnects us to original matter.”
Viva Magenta was inspired by the red of cochineal, one of the most precious dyes in the dye family, according to Eiseman. According to Pantone’s Executive Director, the color of the year 2023 expresses strength, fearlessness, and bravery while also encouraging “a joyous and optimistic celebration.”
According to the Executive Director’s statement, which was posted on Pantone’s official website, the color of the year 2023 is both empowering and powerful. Coming from red, it exudes pure joy and unrestrained self-expression. She emphasized that it is inclusive, witty, and daring. It helps build inner strength and spirit.
