The senator recently explained the reasons for her father, former President Ferdinand Marcos, to prohibit Philippine television in the 1970s from airing the Japanese anime series “Voltes V.”
Remember that the first episode of the well-known Japanese animation series aired on Philippine television in May 1978.
The senator was recently questioned about the abrupt cancellation of the anime series on the GMA Network during an interview with the entertainment press at the Marcos Mansion in San Juan.
When Voltes V was forbidden from Philippine television in 1979, she recalls being upset and went on to explain why her father had to do it.
The senator claimed that at the time, her father received advice from educators and child psychiatrists.
“Nagwa-wala talaga ako noon. Galit na galit ako bakit tinanggal yun,” the senator said.
“We all love Voltes V. We were very sad about it but at that point in time, my dad was advised by a lot of child psychologists and educators na yung behavior ng bata, nagiging robotic na at wala ng iniisip kundi violence…parang mechanical na.”
For her, the outlawing of the well-known anime series from Japan was the start of “political rectitude.”
Despite the fact that the kids at the time were so fascinated with the anime series that they began attacking other people, the senator also stated that she would contend that Voltes V is among the “greatest stories in the world.”
The popular educational children’s television program “Sesame Street” in the United States, according to Senator Imee Marcos, who also enjoys reading comic books, experienced the same thing.
Voltes V: Legacy, a live-action television series based on the well-known Japanese anime series, is scheduled to premiere on the GMA Network in 2023.
