After being imprisoned for nearly three months in line with Deniece Cornejo’s r@pe accusations against him, which were previously dismissed and are now being reopened, actor-host Vhong Navarro was released on bail on Tuesday afternoon.
Branch 69 of the Taguig Regional Trial Court allowed the petition made by Navarro’s side on Monday to post bail during that time. Navarro’s bail was set by Judge Loralie Cruz Datahan at P1 million.
Around six o’clock Navarro was discharged from the Taguig City Jail on Tuesday after paying the approved bail.
Tanya Bautista, his wife, accompanied him. She expressed her joy to ABS-CBN News prior to actually stepping into the facility, saying that she was looking forward to spending the holidays with her family.
Navarro reportedly broke down in tears when he saw the outcome of his bail petition, according to his attorneys.
Navarro said he will take some time of rest “in the coming days,” but will then back to co-hosting the noontime program “It’s Showtime,” which he has done since 2009.
