Ticketmaster said in a tweet that the sale of tickets for pop diva Taylor Swift’s The Eras Tour on Friday has been canceled owing to excessive demand and limited availability.

Following the post on Thursday, shares of Ticketmaster parent Live Nation Entertainment Inc dropped as much as 2.9% to $71.85.
The internet ticketing corporation came under fire from Democrat US Senator Amy Klobuchar for its sales methods when its website failed Tuesday morning, causing repeated outages and three-hour wait periods for Taylor Swift’s first tour in five years.

“Never before has a Verified Fan on sale sparked so much attention – or uninvited volume,”

“This disrupted the predictability and reliability that is the hallmark of our Verified Fan platform.” Ticketmaster wrote in a blog post.
